The “other” Anniversary

Our photographer has been posting little teasers of our wedding photos on her blog.  Here is a very nice portrait that I can’t wait to have framed and hung in our house!

For those of you that know Greg and/or me, you know that we have been together quite a long time.  In fact, we have been together exactly 6 years today.  Yes, today is the 6th anniversary of our first date.  We went out to eat at a little Italian place, Bambino’s, in Lawrence, followed by going to see The Ring.  Man that movie scared the crap out of me.  To this day I joke that Greg took me to see a scary movie on purpose so I’d have to snuggle up to him.  Well, I guess it all worked out, right?  When we first got engaged and decided the rough time of year that we wanted to get married, I found out that November 1st was a Saturday and I got my heart set on getting married on our 6th anniversary.  Well, that was not to be.  Why? you ask…that would be due to the KU-K State football game today that KU just won by a landslide.  You see, here in Lawrence, weddings must be planned to avoid KU sporting events.  So today is our 6th anniversary of our first date and the 4-week anniversary of our wedding.

Appropriately enough we spent our anniversary doing the kind of mundane errands that dominate the lives of married home owners.  Home Depot, Target, Bed Bath and Beyond.  Did we miss any big box stores?  Happily, we also went to the Douglas County Clerks office and voted.  We even had to wait in line today – so that makes us happy to have avoided the inevitably long lines on Tuesday.  Vote people, Vote!!!
