Wii! Finally!

You all know my feelings on video games…right?  Well, hypocrisy, here I come!  For months, Greg has been wanting a Wii.  Practically every time we went to Target, or Best Buy or some other big box store, Greg surreptitiously checked to see whether they had any Wii’s in stock.  The answer was consistently NO.  That was probably a good thing given how much they cost.  Well, as you may have gathered, we got ourselves a Wii…finally.  I’m not going to directly admit to using money we received from wedding gifts to make the purchase.  That would be completely childish and irresponsible.  No no.  Greg and I are just doing our part to put some money back into the struggling economy right now.  We are being patriotic!

So as I mentioned, I have always had strong feelings against video games.  I see them as a pretty deplorable waste of time.  I never had a game system growing up, a fact which I used to berate my parents for, and now I thank them.  I don’t know whether its a good defense or not, but the Wii seems a bit different to me.  Sure its still a colossal waste of time, but at least it involves some physical movement and (at least in the games we purchased) there aren’t any story lines to get us sucked in to the point where we’ll be playing for hours on end.  Greg and I had a spirited boxing match last night.  I’m a little ashamed to admit that I got slightly out of breath trying to beat up my virtual husband with a couple of plastic controllers.

Not only did we get a couple of frivolous and fun games (I also bought Guitar Hero on eBay…yea!!!!!), but for a whopping $5, Greg downloaded Super Mario Bros. 3.  It shows how old and lame we are that this 15+ year old game with the cruddiest graphics ever is just as exciting to us as the state-of-the-art Wii sports games.  And don’t worry dear readers, I will for sure get some awesome photos of us playing our Wii posted soon.  There’s nothing cuter than a 31 year old man bowling with a wii-mote!
